Bridford Twinning Association

The Bridford and St Vaast Twinning Association started in 1977 which means that this year is its 40th birthday!

The relationship between the two villages has been a defining feature of the character of each of the two settings.  Every year there is a visit: alternating years we host our French friends.  All our visitors are housed with families in the Twinning Association.  We organise events and visits whilst our friends are here; funnily enough we get to know our own neighbours better, as well as forming lasting friendships with our visitors from Normandy.

On May 26th 2017, 28 Bridfordians set off on a journey to St Vaast.  The weekend was action packed with lots of history, culture, drinking, eating, fun, frivolity, singing, laughing, fireworks, nostalgia and ‘pigeon’ English and French!  Our group included every age group from 3 to 83.  It was a totally joyous occasion culminating in riotous singing in the Salle de Fete, each nation trying to out-sing the other!  The 40th anniversary was marked with an incredible firework display which was complimented rather dramatically by the electric storm that was shooting lightning bolts across the sky.
